Ground Zero…

June 12th, 2008

While we were in New York, we visited ground zero.  There is a lot of new construction going on there in preparation for the new Freedom Tower.  From the ground, you don’t really feel the impact of it because of the construction.  We took a helicopter ride though and seeing it from the air is pretty humbling.  The NY skyline certainly will never look the same again.  You can definitely tell that something is missing.

Summer Fun

June 8th, 2008

We were at my parent’s house this weekend for my birthday and a water gun fight broke out.  The kids had a blast.  I thought it was a good chance to break out the camera.  Here’s a shot of a soaked Bentley.

100 years…This is the year

June 3rd, 2008

People that know me know that the only thing I’ve ever really been into big time is baseball.  More specifically, I’ve been a huge Chicago Cubs fan ever since I can remember.  It just so happens that the Cubs are the team with the longest drought since their last World Series title.  1908 was the last time they won it.  I’d list all the things that have been invented since then, but my hosting company would ban me for all the disk space it would take.  This is the 100 year anniversary since they won it.  The Cubs are going into June with the best record in all of baseball.  The last time that happened was, well….. 1908.  There are starting to be a lot of signs pointing to this year being the year.  I think it’s going to happen…

Right place…Right time

May 25th, 2008

Our hotel is at 5th Ave & 40th St. There is a McDonald’s on the corner of 40th and Madison that we decided to go to before the game so we could eat quick. We got to the corner and were asked to stop by a guy with a head set and walkie-talkie. They also had traffic stopped and we were told they were filming a scene for a major motion picture. The guy wouldn’t give any information but I got the camera ready. Here in a minute a bunch of police cars and motorcycles came racing down Madison Ave. They had to be going 70 mph on a street that is normally pretty crowded. It was really neat to see a car chase scene being filmed live. They went back around and set up again so we got to see 2 takes of it. When we were leaving we found a guy that told us the movie was called “The Taking of Pelham 123″ and stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta. I found it on IMDB and it looks like it will be release in July of 2009. I don’t get star struck too much but this was really awesome experience. Here’s a pic where you can see an NYPD car geared up with a camera and the white truck has a full camera crew in the back.. (don’t forget to scroll down and read the below post on general NY stuff)..

New York Day 2

May 25th, 2008

The weather is great right now in New York! The city is great. It’s one of those places that’s great to visit but I wouldn’t want to live here. There’s so much to do and see… Here are some of the highlights from the first day and a half…

Today we went to the Yankees’ game… I’m not a Yankees fan, but seeing a game here was definitely on my short list of places to visit. Check that one off….(click on images for the larger version)

Eating a bag of peanuts is serious business..

We got to the game a little early so we had to pass the time somehow…

I think Alex Rodriguez may go down as one of top 5 players of all time if not #1. Our seats were pretty high so this is the best I could do…

Radio City Music Hall…

The view looking north from the top of Rockefeller Center. It was a pretty clear day so you can see central park really good. You can see Yankee Stadium in the distance just above the right side of the lake…

There are some buildings that just really grab your attention. The empire state building is cool, but for some reason I really love the Chrysler building. More pics to come over the next few days…

New York City!

Amarillo Engagement Session - Larrylee and Candi

May 21st, 2008

Had a good time this weekend taking pictures of Larrylee and Candi. It looked like we were going to get poured on and then all the clouds pretty much disappeared. Here are a few of my favorite images from the shoot.

Gas prices..

May 16th, 2008

It’s kind of weird how as consumers we are ok with the prices of some things rising and not others. I had my first $80 tank of gas today. For some reason, that one is tough to take. I guess I remember the days when I could fill up my truck in college for $30…

Old blog posts…

May 13th, 2008

I finally got all of my posts imported from my old blog. The formatting is a little goofy on some for some reason but at least it got the pictures pulled over good.
