Right place…Right time

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Our hotel is at 5th Ave & 40th St. There is a McDonald’s on the corner of 40th and Madison that we decided to go to before the game so we could eat quick. We got to the corner and were asked to stop by a guy with a head set and walkie-talkie. They also had traffic stopped and we were told they were filming a scene for a major motion picture. The guy wouldn’t give any information but I got the camera ready. Here in a minute a bunch of police cars and motorcycles came racing down Madison Ave. They had to be going 70 mph on a street that is normally pretty crowded. It was really neat to see a car chase scene being filmed live. They went back around and set up again so we got to see 2 takes of it. When we were leaving we found a guy that told us the movie was called “The Taking of Pelham 123″ and stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta. I found it on IMDB and it looks like it will be release in July of 2009. I don’t get star struck too much but this was really awesome experience. Here’s a pic where you can see an NYPD car geared up with a camera and the white truck has a full camera crew in the back.. (don’t forget to scroll down and read the below post on general NY stuff)..

New York Day 2

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

The weather is great right now in New York! The city is great. It’s one of those places that’s great to visit but I wouldn’t want to live here. There’s so much to do and see… Here are some of the highlights from the first day and a half…

Today we went to the Yankees’ game… I’m not a Yankees fan, but seeing a game here was definitely on my short list of places to visit. Check that one off….(click on images for the larger version)

Eating a bag of peanuts is serious business..

We got to the game a little early so we had to pass the time somehow…

I think Alex Rodriguez may go down as one of top 5 players of all time if not #1. Our seats were pretty high so this is the best I could do…

Radio City Music Hall…

The view looking north from the top of Rockefeller Center. It was a pretty clear day so you can see central park really good. You can see Yankee Stadium in the distance just above the right side of the lake…

There are some buildings that just really grab your attention. The empire state building is cool, but for some reason I really love the Chrysler building. More pics to come over the next few days…

Streets of Boston

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

I wanted to see some of Boston’s great neighborhoods tonight but the weather didn’t want to cooperate.  It rained all evening but I found an umbrella in the hotel closet and decided to brave it so I could see some more of the D3 in low light.  All of the images below are at ISO 6400.  There is a little noise, but the streets were really dark so I’m still impressed.

Rain is good for pics…
One brochure I found in the hotel said this is the most photographed street in America….
Boston state building..
Random door on Charles street that I passed.
And a random window of a restaurant..
